The Brazilian superstar, who started his career with Santos, has scored four goals and provided four assists for PSG from four Ligue 1 appearances so far this season, and the 25-year-old notched his first strike and laid on another on his Champions League debut for the French club away at Celtic earlier this week.
Neymar joined Barca from Santos in 2013, when he was just 21, and Brazil international’s formative club stand to earn approximately four percent of his world-record transfer fee under FIFA rules — so around €9 million.
“We have received an email [from PSG],” Roma told UOL Esporte’s Rodrigo Mattos. “The club have apologised for their delay in getting in touch, claiming they have a lot to resolve, and they are making arrangements to make the payment. They are very serious people, who are not in football for fun.”
According to UOL’s Mattos, Santos contacted PSG at the time of Neymar’s move from Barca to remind the Ligue 1 giants of the formative club’s rights — something that Neymar himself was very keen on guaranteeing his former employers will receive.
