Translation: “Besiktas transfer on the agenda for Cyle Larin, who came to Istanbul”
However, a club spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com that Orlando had not received an offer for the player from Besiktas.
Larin, 22, has tallied 43 goals in 87 career MLS appearances, since being drafted as No. 1 overall in 2015 by the Lions. The Canadian international has been linked to European transfer rumors for some time, with Besiktas seeming to be the frontrunner in December, but reports around the turn of the year pegged German club Borussia Monchengladbach as the leader in seeking his services.
Besiktas are the defending Turkish Super Lig champions, and have advanced to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in over 30 years. If Larin does complete the move to Besiktas, he could be reunited with Canadian national teammate Atiba Hutchinson, still a regular contributor for one of Turkey’s biggest clubs.
